Podcast: EHR Meaningful Use Update

By Sara Michael | July 14, 2010

In the final rule outlining criteria for qualifying for federal incentives, CMS relaxed the requirements and gave providers some choice in how they achieve meaningful use of EHRs.

Rather than take a so-called "all-or-nothing" approach and meet all 25 criteria, providers can achieve 15 core objectives, as well as choose five objects from a list of 10, according to CMS. The final rule, released July 13, also eased some of the metrics for achieving these objectives.

In this podcast, Justin Barnes, of the EHR Association and Greenway Medical Technologies, explains CMS’ final rule for meaningful use criteria for EHR incentives.
